My rating: 2 of 5 stars
I was disappointed with this book. Although Osman’s style hasn’t changed much, it doesn’t appeal to the common man. There’s too much of a jet-set lifestyle. It’s almost as if Osman has been hanging out in studios too much and he’s been asked to write a book that appeals to them. There’s characters that want to do their bit, but don’t want to leave their comfort zone. I was hoping that the main protagonists would be a bit younger. I’m also a bit disappointed with the conclusion. It’s all retrospective in conversations rather than being at the heart of the moment alongside the previous plotlines. It also doesn’t allow the reader to make a guess. There’s a good number of distractions and deflections to keep the reader from guessing who is aligned with who. They occasionally have to stick to their guts. But I hope that Osman writes something a little more realistic in future.
