It was a bit of a climb bearing north-east through the
forest, but once we got to the top it was the highest part of our walk. At the
next junction we turned left and headed west where the forest began to thin out
into a thin line of trees. The path then bordered out onto some fields where we
continued west to re-join the canal. Heading south, we passed a small marina
outside the Navigation Inn then walked to a small aqueduct over the main road. We
continued south along the canal to where we first entered it, then on the lane
we turned right which took us back to the main road. Here we crossed, where
just opposite was a local farm shop. Continuing west, we got a lovely view of
the weir as we crossed the bridge and returned to the car park. The whole walk
was about four and a half miles.
