The villagers decided that the best course of action would be to block out the sun. They hadn’t seen much of it anyway, but if they could keep building a giant tower to create shade across the land, then their new goddess wouldn’t come to any harm whatever the weather. It would also restrict her movements at night unless she’d manage to find an alternative source of shelter, but their second objective was to tend to her every need so that she wouldn’t be tempted to so do. They’d also need food and sacrifices to keep her satisfied, though her growing size demanded an increase in these resources. It just depended on how big she would get. At least the attraction of the tower would bring more people into the town. Perhaps they could even install a secret trapdoor on a dark night to capture visitors who would not go amiss…
