The Eternity Code by Eoin Colfer
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
This is my favourite book of the Fowl series so far. Perhaps it’s because Colfer focuses much more on his descriptive surroundings and the relationships of his characters rather than the free-flow action scenes that I’ve read in his previous novels. There’s even emotion and unquestioning loyalty involved between each character; as they work together to scheme a plot against some rogue humans. We also see Artemis committing some very noble acts for the very first time. Unfortunately, Spiro makes for a very week villain. Apart from having the usual twinge of gangster evil; he has a habit of describing all his acts up front so you know exactly what to expect. This makes you wonder how Fowl and his team will attempt to do the impossible. But, as in all of these stories; we do seem to witness the power of technology rather than magical abilities. This tale would be the perfect story for Colfer to end the series on; as everyone has survived the odds and has reached an almost happy ending. But the series goes on…
