Tardebige Totter

Just a stone’s throw away from the main road set between two major towns is the village of Tardebigge. Many pass through it when they fancy a country drive without using the dual carriageway, but this sparse area has a lot to attract. Its major employer is the soon to be closed prison, but its surroundings offer craft shopping and hospitality in the form of its nearby pubs and restaurants. Look beyond the main road and you’ll see a whole network of footpaths to explore connecting a canal and two towns. It’s major claim to fame is its tunnel which you’ll pass over without even being aware of its existence, and its flight of thirty locks to slowly help narrowboats climb the Licky Incline. You’ll also spot the spire of the local church from a distance, and it’s this spot where it’s best to start for a scenic walk of the area.
