You can park the car at the church. It’s a small round car
park at the top of the hill. If there’s a service or near to the school times,
you can usually get away with parking on the hill. In the lower corner of the
car park is a kissing gate. Pass through this and follow the well-defined track
down the hill to reach the canal, keeping an eye on the sheep. They’ll
generally make way for you, but there’s still the odd adventurous one, especially
if there’s lambs involved. Cross the stile at the bottom of the hill to reach
the canal. Once you’ve had your fill of the narrowboats, head east by keeping
the canal on your right. After the second bridge, you’ll reach the old lockkeeper’s
cottage, and if you’ve timed it right, you’ll be able to purchase refreshments
if required. Pass the next two set of locks.
