Tall Tales & Wee Stories by Billy Connolly

Tall Tales and Wee StoriesTall Tales and Wee Stories by Billy Connolly
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I’m not normally a fan of northern comedians, especially ones which use potty humour and tends to swear a lot. But this autobiography is quite interesting. Connolly does tend to digress a bit (of which we are forewarned) and often it takes a while to get back to the original subject. But what does come out of these musings is a long zest of a life well lived and some interesting and colourful characters found in the most common of places. And he’s never afraid to talk about his hometown roots, or anything really, as there’s rather a lot of talk about poo. But hey, it’s all natural. Everyone loves it when people lose their rag and ends up being a bit naughty, and you gain a sense that a lot of people don’t really grow up at all. It’s a good read to pass the time and you get a sense of Connolly’s lifestyle and act; but there few moments that make you want to smirk or laugh out loud. It’s probably a good idea that I didn’t go and see his act really.
