Garden centres aren’t necessarily
great places to get breakfast. For starters, they’re placed in some very
strange locations. They’re usually convenient for the people that live there
and they aren’t always great value; but we had a B.O.G.O.F voucher. Having looked
at the menu, I decided that without the voucher it would be very pricey.
Luckily, we’d already decided to come here as a destination as it was en route
to another place. The café was busy but there were a few tables outside where a
corner of the centre had been roped off with reed fencing to make a private
garden for café customers. For the price that we paid, I expected the
ingredients to be a bit more farm fresh; but it seemed to be from the usual
freshly frozen catering pack. It’s not every day that you get to dine al fresco
with a giraffe in the morning during a great British summer; even if it’s a metallic
one.
