Wye Valley HPA at the Why Not, Astwood Bank

This pub is just outside of the main village of Astwood Bank; it’s where the traffic is finally released from the deserted road and drivers can really put their feet down. Inside this pub, it’s mainly a food-lovers emporium; with home-cooked food galore. The main lounge is very cosy with a fireplace and few tables set aside for locals who like to be kept near to the bar. The walls are adorned with horseracing memorabilia. The pub then stretches into a formal dining room with plain square tables; and a patio stretches out onto a beer garden with a small play area. In the rear is a parlour bar; a very small chequered tile room which hosts three or four tables shielding the rear wall. There are usually three beers here but don’t expect to cross anything off your beer-ticker list. In recent times it’s had a change of ownership, but retains its cosy atmosphere.
