I enjoyed this film. It was way
more entertaining than Prometheus, and
it didn’t take much to recall the events of this film’s prequel. But the plot
of the film is just so predictable, simply because the timeline of the film is
out of sync with the original movies. There weren’t any ‘I didn’t expect that
to happen’ moments or tense psychological build-ups. But there were plenty of ‘I
wonder if he’s going to do that moments’ or ‘that’s a daft idea moments’. For
instance, the shuttle drops the landing party eight kilometres away from the
source; forcing them to walk through unknown terrain. Wouldn’t it make sense to
do a fly-by first? And the other strange thing about this film is that it’s a
15, a lower certificate than the original series. It just goes to show that we’re
getting harder to scare. I would have traded in the extra three years for a bit
more gore and some more suspenseful moments.
