This countryside pub is immensely popular for its food and
keeps its ales in good quality. It’s split into a large comfortable open room with
wide tables to cater for large groups and offers a carvery as well as a local
produce menu. A small bar with a real fire and a stone quarry floor for the
locals is placed out the back; though it is possible to dine there if you so wish.
This spills out onto a terraced beer garden with bench-side seating, while the
opposite side of the pub has a quieter and more maintained beer garden. It’s
certainly off the beaten track though. There’s a large car park but be prepared
to climb the hill if you use it! The beer is kept well and you can usually find
at least one of the region’s favourite local ales on cask. The pub has also
hosted beer festival and BBQ weekends.
