A Fatal Obsession by Faith Martin

A Fatal Obsession (Ryder & Loveday Mystery, #1)A Fatal Obsession by Faith Martin
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

The characters in this book don’t seem to come alive. Perhaps the characters need to be a bit more human and come alive to tell some humorous stories. They all seem too two-dimensional and don’t seem to think for themselves. They’re young and inexperienced. Perhaps it was the setting. There wasn’t enough references to suggest this was the hustle and bustle of an Oxford district. Perhaps they were hoping to cash in and base their works on another series that was developed for television. I was waiting to see if there were any modern-day references, but I didn’t see any crop up. At least the author’s done her homework. I suppose the title gave it away when you think about it. There’s a sense that this partnership will be a trilogy, but the key question is why. What’s Ryder’s motivation for overturning these convictions? Is he the obsessed one? Only time will tell.
