Falling by T.J Newman

FallingFalling by T.J. Newman
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

It’s exciting to be part of an author’s first publication. This is a tale about teamwork and how the experienced and inexperienced come together to deal with a catastrophe. There are some situations that you just can’t process correctly to work out what’s happening and it makes you think that the plot would be better suited to a TV movie than a book. The baseball scenario was overstretched and should have been introduced earlier, while others like the celebrity seemed to have been forgotten about towards the end of the story. Also, the tightness of some of the teams makes it difficult for the reader to become part of the experience when the team is already established, especially when you use nicknames for them like Big Daddy. However, there are some great twists in this story that you just can’t predict, and when Newman’s narrative convinces you that it’s all over, another event occurs. It also illustrates the fact that no-one is privileged despite their situation, and everyone has a different part to play. It’s a great tale about the good and the bad of humanity.
