And so a time has come to pass where millions of hours have
disappeared off the web, making long-loved simple animated screens outdated. There’s
just too many add-ons now to install to ensure that the games work as well as they
did, and I’ve got no idea whether this new software is trustworthy or not.
Sites that had built up a reputation for delivering quality games for years
suddenly lost a lot of visitors since these games wouldn’t work anymore. And
all because the software producers decided that they couldn’t keep up with
today’s modern world. It’s a shame that no-one stepped in to help them or even
offer to buy them out; but then again it was a programme that people were using
for free. Ultimately, some classic works were lost as the authors themselves
weren’t around to upgrade their publications, although some may have been upgraded
for a price. But for many, it’s the end of an old-style price-free era.
