We resorted to drinking out of plastic cups, and there wasn’t
much available in the way of dessert but we were happy with ice cream. Then it
was time to head back to the walk. Heading north, we walked back the way we
came, passing the turn into our village on our left. As the road bent round to
the left, a trail on a footpath opened out onto a field just past the houses on
the right-hand side. We followed this east until we reached a gap in the hedge,
then we were supposed to head north until the path intersected with the road
again, but we missed the gap in the hedge and wandered east a bit too far. Instead,
we cut across and headed north-east to get back on track. Here, we followed the
footpath east through a small wood followed by two fields before bearing
north-east to reach the road.
