The Woodies is a small community
local’s pub which is a short walk from the town centre. It’s mostly famous for
hosting local bands on a Saturday, but it has a comfortable lounge to catch up
with friends. Its bar is often camped out by locals but the bar staff are quick
to recognise who is waiting. There’s also a small area for darts which is
walled off from the rest of the pub. It’s a great place to watch sport as a
community, and Saturdays will always feature the results as they pour in. It’s
not a cheap place for a pint, but they do look after their beer and they are
just starting to explore local beers because of a change in management. There’s
also a rear patio area for smokers and some steps lead down to a small beer
garden; though it somewhat feels like descending into a pit as the pub is on
the very top of a hill.
