As a group, these people seem to be stuck in their ways. There are people who are pushing for change, but they’re not necessarily in the right places. The office people are nice to deal with, and they’re young and enthusiastic, but they’re not the people in charge. They focus on their career and how they can use the organisation to gain experience and build a portfolio. They’re only active in the workday, and if they’re off duty for a holiday or they’re sick then you’re not going to get your answer at all. We are essentially their boss because if we don’t like their decision or process then we can attempt to overturn it. We also have the option to vote with our feet and leave the organisation. It’s the volunteers who are, and because these people don’t work full time due to other interests, they’re often hard to get a timely response out of.
