What Type of Dog Am I?

I’d always like to be a playful dog so long as I’ve got someone to be involved with. I might be naughty but only to get a few laughs and be a happy soul. I wouldn’t be one of those annoying dogs who snarl at everyone that I’d see. I’d only react when I would be sure that someone was in danger. So really I’d be a good dog and only cause trouble when I’m out playing. I certainly wouldn’t want to e on duty all the time. I’d prefer long walks; especially when I can explore the mountains when there’s less man-made hazards around. Because of this, I’d apparently be a St. Bernard. I can see where the long walks and mountains are involved and it’d be great to have a barrel of sprits about by collar (even though I prefer beer) but I’m not sure where the playfulness would be involved in all this. I’d just be one sloppy, sleepy mess.

Stuck in the Middle

When you’re in the middle, you’re on show. Everyone’s eye is naturally drawn to you so it’s up to you to lead the way in what happens next. Will you get a round of applause, a load of followers, or will a bout of mummers and ridicule betide you? Maybe you won’t like the attention. Maybe you’ll want to run away or at least hide yourself away from prying eyes. Or maybe you’re not doing enough to warrant people’s attention. They look at you but realise that nothing significant is happening and move onto the next interesting subject. They may even be trying to avoid you. Perhaps the scene that you’re creating is offensive to them. But whatever is happening, your position is prime to the circumstances and it really does help you to stand out. And if you raise your voice just a little, you can really give them a show.

The Interpreter (2005)

With a title like this, you immediately think that a translation is being made for someone’s gain or a conspiracy that is made to create injustice rather than a character that just happens to be in the wrong place at the one time. Although the location is interesting; the film results in nothing more than a cat and mouse chase that we haven’t seen before with fairly predictable results. Still, there’s plenty of action. Kidman does a fantastic job of playing the foreigner; though her character does seem meek, submissive and untrusting at times with a very confusing motive. And we never got to see her give that clarinet lesson. You’d also think that governments would have more of a hold to choose their own interpreters rather than to rely on independent ones supplied by the U.N; and that more censorship would take place. I suppose that there’s a cost savings though. It’s an entertaining movie but it’s not one that I’d seek out to watch again.

Manner of Play

When you play a game, you want to try your best, but you want to make it fun for everyone as well. This can be difficult when there’s a large group of people behind you waiting impatiently to clear the hole. You also want the freedom to experiment. Are you going to play the same route that everyone else does to get the best score; or are you going to try a risky shot to involve or avoid the hole’s obstacle to see what happens? And then there’s the manner of strokes. You want to be fair, competitive, and accurate, but you also need to make progress so that you don’t keep your fellow players waiting. Are you going to wait for your ball to stop before taking another stroke, or do you give it another tap to get it up that hill? Do you start again if the ball leaves the course? And most importantly, do you add that to your score? All this thought for a bit of fun.

Dutch Theatre #dreamdiary113

I’m watching a live stream of a theatre production from home. There’s a live audience as well. The stage is set against a massive orange background. I wonder if it’s Dutch theatre. In the centre high above the ground is a small black square dot. The actors are just beginning to walk through the dot onto the stage. First there’s someone that looks a lot like Martin Freeman and I think that it probably is. Then follows a young black woman with black shiny hair and massive oversized breasts. They’re like giant cow udders hanging down from her body. After this follows someone as a papier-mâché tree which appears to be stuck as it’s too tall to walk through the hole. All the other players start laughing as they suddenly realise how ridiculous this set is. The rest of the cast and even some of the technical crew have appeared to enquire as to the source of this mirth and to figure out how to get the show back on track. I laugh out loud. I wonder how the live audience can see anything. Perhaps they have incredibly good eyesight or they’ve brought binoculars. Maybe they’ve brought their phones so that they can stream the same camera angles that we can from home.

Dialling up the Future

I’m just wondering how this place will develop going forward. Since our visit, it seems to have transformed itself into more of a party venue rather than a fun golf course. A third of the holes have been axed to make space for a party room and an arcade. But at least it’s lost its dreary wooden look; though t still could have been a work in progress when we visited. There’s also an emphasis on live entertainment. Despite all this, it still markets itself as in Birmingham where it’s actually right on the border and miles away from any form of public transport. It’s a place that wants people with cash to come and visit; the kind of people who are happy to fork out loads for a cab home. Still, if it keeps itself in business then it must be doing something right. I’ll have to rally a crew together for another visit.

The Great Biccie Dunk-Off

What’s the best biscuit for dunking? You can get the most marvellous of cookies nowadays loaded up with the most luxurious of toppings, but dunk one of these in your cuppa and the toppings will simply fall into the brew. What’s even worse is that most of these biscuits will just disintegrate as soon as it submerges into the mug. You’re then left with a very strange-tasting brew with unexpected pieces of biscuit that will either surprise you mid-sip or you’ll end up having to pick out bits towards the end of the brew, scalding your fingernails and ruining both tea and biscuit alike. What you need is something that’ll stand up to the dunk. Usually the plainest is the simplest, and the dry taste is taken away as soon as it’s soaked in the brew. A digestive with a bit of chocolate would be perfect. It’s just the right size too.
