Gliding Around Guilin

There were Chinese lanterns lit up in the air and historic buildings with wooden reinforced gated doors with a bungalow on top which had a pagoda stuck on it. We had absolutely no idea what it was but it looked impressive. There were glass houses lit up over ornate bridges and tunnelled planted walkways in the shape of hearts. Once we’d finished our circuit, we arrived at Miss Xu’s pub. This was a very small establishment run by a Chinese boy and some of our group was already there. Conversation was a bit difficult owing to the language barrier but he was smart enough to have an app on his phone. In between serving customers he played his guitar to entertain us. It was a good night to start with, but one lady got a bit carried away when she kept talking about the motorcyclists not wearing a helmet just because it wasn’t cool, and kept offering to buy the waiter one.
