We fancied a break from Chinese food and got wind that there
was an Irish bar in town, but first we decided to go for a stroll around the
neighbourhood. A pleasant pathway wound its way through ancient trees offering
scenic glimpses of the rivers and canals. The bannisters make it look like it’s
something out of Labyrinth. At night there’s even mood lighting. At one
time I felt like I was in Amsterdam with all the neon lights and boats cruising
past. I even found a genuine lock, though it was much more controlled with a
harbourmaster monitoring the doors rather than a sweaty man with a lock. We did
have the chance to go on a boat, but we’d be spending most of the next day on
one so we decided to miss it. Instead, we encountered local dance classes,
ornate bridges and local bands all out on the water.
