Suddenly a huge boom emerged from the direction of the castle. They could hear bricks and mortar falling, and the ground began to shake as well. All they could do was to gaze up at the castle and hope that their loved ones would be OK. As night turned into day it grew extremely hot as if the land was being baked by the sun for the first time. There was no wind to blow away the mist and it took ages to vanish. When it did, both the castle and cliff were just not there. How could it be possible? These landmarks had stood above their village for generations. They ran up as close as they dared to the edge. As they looked over, all they saw was a small, pebbled beach with the remains of a turreted rooftile on it. Everything else was just water. They called for ropes so that the children could be lowered down to investigate.
