Perhaps there’s more to it than just a squirt of water. It’s
a wobbly bridge after all. But what makes it wobble? Is it the people jumping
up and down on the top? Or is it disturbed by something underneath? The huge
pipe could be a source of pneumatic air to give it a kick. Time it wrong and
you could be catapulted into the air. It’s all part of the owner’s plan to keep people from crossing their bridge,
though in this case they’re inviting people to try it. The question is whether
you feel lucky enough to risk it. You’ll hear a hiss followed by a huge thwack
beneath you. If you retreat quickly enough, you might be able to get to the
safety of the stairwell or even dash across the other side without tripping. But
a barrier could be activated to prevent you from doing so.
