What is that bulge underneath that hat? Surely it can’t be a
normal head. Perhaps it’s a huge mass of hair with something nesting in it. It
could be a head of branches which is why there’s a branch of wriggling fingers reaching
towards it. It also seems to attract the snow. It’s starting to match the jacket
and scarf. But that’s more likely to make me move into shelter before I take my
hat off. Maybe they’re just seeking out an opportunity for my head to be
exposed. Then a winter cold will be inflicted upon me. Maybe I can pull one of
those rings on my backpack and a little umbrella will pop out of my hat to cover
me. Either that or I’m not going to survive this storm because I’m wearing the
wrong hat and I’m about to be dissolved. But the reindeer are interested in the
one that stands alone.
