What’s wrong with that? It’s traditional and it’s how it was invented. If you’re not going to add any sauce or spread, the whole thing is going to be very dry. Otherwise, what’s the point of butter to your bread? But are you really going to put it on the outside? This is your only option if it’s toast, but you’ve got the crust to hold onto. Otherwise, your hands are going to be really messy. Are you planning to eat your sandwich with a knife and fork? You can be forgiven for doing this if it’s hot, but the whole point of a sandwich is something that you can make to eat later, on the go if necessary. Also, do you really need to watch a cooking show to learn how to make a sandwich? It must be a bad one if they’re teaching you to put the butter inside the sandwich; it’s easier to spread it on the top of each piece before the sandwich is formed.
