A pint and a roll might be enough to keep you going, but it
isn’t a meal. So on the way back down, there was an opportunity to visit the
other canalside pub. This is the Lock Inn at Wolverley. The pub itself is quite
small, but it’s a nice spot to sit outside and enjoy a pint while watching canal
users pass by. While we didn’t enter the
pub here, we made use of its excellent enterprising beer garden opposite which
had a garden shed set up to sell ice creams next to the towpath. There’s a separate
tearoom set up in the old stables, and there’s even a food truck so the owner
is trying everything to make ends meet. A lock alongside the pub offers an
ambitious exit to its extensive car park,
but we were parked in Kidderminster and had to continue underneath the road
bridge.
