After some quick refreshment, I follow the road south for a few
yards until I reach a style on my right. I head over into a field and up a
steep hill. The path is fenced off from the field via a stile and can be
overgrown in places. At the top is the entrance to someone’s driveway, and
there’s usually an animal to bark at me. When the footpath reaches a road, I
turn left and walk along a ridge. I continue south, and when the road bears
left I follow a bridleway alongside a cottage. The path can sometimes get quite
churned here owing to the horses, though I’ve never actually seen one use it.
The path descends through a wood alongside a field, though there are plenty of
alternative paths along the way should the route become too muddy. I continue south
straight across an open field where the path ascends again.
