Under the Surface #bidford 9

I might seem like a happy chappy but I’ve still got my socks pulled up and my scabby knees on show. I think I’m happy because I’ve managed to get myself to a place that others would struggle to position themselves whereas I’m quite comfortable returning from where I started. There’s a big branch behind me that looks like a lever. Its position isn’t clear. It could be on the bank or it could be in the water like a giraffe that’s just washed up. If I pull it, will the water stop or is it more likely to snap off and fall into the water taking me with it? It looks sturdy enough to survive a snapping. At least I’ve got something sturdy to hold onto. I’ll end up like one of those figureheads that hangs off the side of a ship. I wonder if the leaves are hiding anything?
