I wonder what washes up along this shoreline. It’s beautiful
to watch, and it stops any debris from going any further, though I suspect someone
has to go and fish it all out. It’s probably common to see rubbish. Plastic
bottles, grass, the odd floating shoe. Then there’s broken driftwood and
discarded packets and some of the remains of wrappers shredded by animals
trying to get a taste of the food that was within. There might be a dead
discarded fish. Unfortunately, it’s got to be someone’s job to keep the river
looking pristine. If there’s anything decent or worthy then they get first
dibs. But it’s going to be very unlikely that a message in a bottle washes up
complete with treasure map. You’re more likely to find rusted drink cans and
bird feathers. For boats, there’s a lock. I suppose this means that kayaks have
to get out. It’s going to be very risky otherwise.
