We sat outside on little patio tables with umbrellas. The server
stayed inside on her mobile phone and didn’t really want to seem to come out
and engage with us. Fortunately, we were a bit peckish which warranted a second
beer, but there was also a local butcher’s around the corner so I bought a pork
pie and some sandwiches to share. There was also a wedding reception in progress,
and people dressed up to the nines in sweltering temperatures were popping in to
check the venue out. Refreshments done, we headed back to our footpath and
headed south along a track path which took us through another three fields onto
a single-track road. Crossing the road opposite a very bright bricked farmhouse,
we crossed three more large fields, the last one came to a narrow corridor of
fencing which lead us to a style on the main road. Here, we turned left then
left again, passing some housing on the main road before reaching the village
pub.
