We didn’t really feel
like walking down someone’s driveway to see if there was a footpath next to the
fence, so we decided to walk north along the road and turn left into the next
cul-de-sac that the map showed that it led into. We found a path on both sides
but didn’t bother investigating the south one to see where we should have gone
as the sun was still bearing down on us.
It was clearly fenced and signposted separately to the green and houses
opposite, and we were soon back in our fields. We had just three short fields
to cross before stumbling onto the end of a track road then continued on the
same direction across a larger field to reach the road. Then it was just a case
of heading north back up the hill. The final hurdle was the steep climb back up
the road leading to the church.
